Californigh-yay!

First, I would really like to offer my apologies for the lack of posts this whole semester. Honestly, I want to share all of this with my lovely friends and family, and I’ve started about five different posts that have yet to be completed. But I am STILL working on my research project (I will be done on Friday, even if it kills me).

Leaving Washington was hard, definitely. I really hate saying goodbye. I even hate saying it with somebody I see every day. My goodbyes just end up really long and drawn out and awkward until somebody stops me from rambling. So, it was difficult to have to say “Goodbye for now” for the second semester in a row to all of the friends I made in DC. And I’m now separated from some really great people. But fortunately, it looks like I might see a decent amount of people in California, whether they are visiting me or other Bay Area residents.
I spent the last four days at home in Auburn, having left DC on Thursday. “Wait, Kimberly,” you might be asking yourself, “that is not mathematically correct.” Of course, me being me, I couldn’t just go home like a normal person; I had to go somewhere else EVEN when I was going home.

So I stopped in Seattle for a 24-hour layover to visit the Aagaard family, whom it was lovely to see. It was a ridiculously quick visit (and one where I spent the entire time indoors), and then I finally made it back to California on Friday night.

It was great to be home, but again, me being me, I am not staying still for long. I am currently on the train, about to arrive in San Jose for my first visit to Santa Clara since last summer! And I can’t help but be a little nervous. I’m so excited to see my friends, but I don’t know what it’s going to be like. How am I going to react coming back from this year of experiences? I don’t feel like I’ve had a transformation abroad/in DC, but I wonder if I actually have and I’ll notice once I’m back. I also just hope people remember me, hah.
But actually.

Then on Monday, Mom and I will head down to Southern California from Santa Clara to visit some family, and then I’ll be a bridesmaid in my friend Amanda’s wedding! That in itself is a strange enough concept – I’m not old enough to have friends getting married, let alone to be in the wedding!

More reflections will come soon.
Also, pictures and stories from the trip. Expect to be overwhelmed with awesomeness soon.
