I have a future!!!

I'm relieved to say that I have been officially accepted into the American University Washington Semester for the spring semester!! Not that it was ever much in doubt; AU loves SCU, and getting approval from our Poli Sci department pretty much guarantees your acceptance. But still, I submitted my application back in February - nothing like waiting 8 months...

Unfortunately, along with my acceptance into the program (as well as my first-choice Peace and Conflict Resolution program), I found out the details (i.e. the official dates). As it turns out, I have orientation on January 6th, meaning that I'll be on the East Coast no later than the 5th.

I get back to the country from Spain on December 30.

I have less than a week at home.

I'm really saddened by this.

I had thought that I'd have at least an extra week before I left, which is why Dad and I planned our two-week trip after my finals, thinking I'd have plenty of time to fit everything in at home - see Mom, celebrate make-up Christmas, see friends from home, visit SCU for a few days, unpack, repack, and - oh yeah - breathe.

Don't get me wrong; DC is going to be fantastic (why, hello, three-week trip to Greece, Turkey, and Cyprus). But I was counting on having at least two weeks in California. It's bad enough that I already wasn't going be able to see any extended family during the holidays, but now I won't see any of the people that I promised to see in January during the first weekend of school, and I'll barely see my own mom. Sigh.

But, I do think that I'll be back in early/mid May! (Knock on wood for all of the above. I don't want to jinx myself again.)

(In other news, this is the fourth consecutive day that I've posted something on here. So proud of myself.)

  1. Congrats on getting into DC! Sorry that we won't see much of you at Christmastime, though :(

HOWEVER, it looks like I'll be getting back to New York about 2 weeks before my term starts on the 24th of January (I got a great theater job and would like to work some over break). You should come out and visit sometime then, so we can hang out and I won't have classes!
